The Borussia Dortmund U23s' penultimate game of the 3. Liga season will see them travel to the Palatinate on Saturday (30 April). The game away to second-placed 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who are battling it out for direct promotion to the Bundesliga 2, will be played in front of a crowd of approximately 50,000 fans in the Fritz Walter Stadion. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:00 CET.

Never before have a Dortmund U23 team played in front of such a large crowd. "This will be a great experience, this is why we play football,'' says BVB goalkeeper Luca Unbehaun. After guaranteeing survival, the Black & Yellows will now look to secure a finish in the top half of the table and build on their club-record number of points in the 3. Liga, which the team set last week when they hit the 46-point mark.

The hosts have lost just one home game this season. After a six-game unbeaten run, coach Marco Antwerpen's side fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat away to Wehen Wiesbaden last weekend. The team from the Palatinate no longer have their fate in their own hands, as promotion rivals Braunschweig have a game in hand.

The eight goals scored by former BVB player Terrence Boyd, who joined in the January transfer window, have been an important factor in Kaiserslautern's push for promotion in the second half of the season. Saturday's hosts have two further potent strikers in Mike Wunderlich and top-scorer Philipp Hercher. Furthermore, Kaiserslautern have been boosted by a strong defence: just 22 goals conceded in 34 games gives them the best defensive record in the league.

Dortmund coach Enrico Maaßen won't be able to count on the services of Marco Hober (suspension) and injured attacking players Marco Pasalic and Moritz Broschinski on Saturday. Kaiserslautern will have to make do without suspended central-defender Kevin Kraus.

Saturday's match will be broadcast live on WDR, with coverage starting at 14:00 CET.
