Madita Kohorst will be out of action for at least six months for Borussia Dortmund's women's handball team. The goalkeeper tore her cruciate ligament in the Bundesliga game against Bietigheim on Saturday.

Kohorst will not only miss the final stages of the current Bundesliga season, but also the start of the new season. As already feared, she tore her cruciate ligament during a defensive action in the closing minutes of the headline clash with Bietigheim on Saturday evening. An operation date has not yet been set.

"This is of course very bad news, Madita will be out for at least six months," explained BVB coach André Fuhr. In the short term, goalkeeper coach Clara Woltering is available as a replacement. "Of course, we have to think about how to handle the situation responsibly," said Fuhr.
