The Borussia Dortmund first-team players officially start their preparations for the 2022/23 season at the end of June. Over the first fortnight of training, the Black & Yellow squad was bolstered by players from the youth ranks for training sessions and friendly fixtures. Now though, coach Edin Terzic has the full contingent at his disposal – with the exception of the players still recovering from injury.

After team captain Marco Reus and goalkeeper Gregor Kobel had returned from their well-deserved holidays that followed the international period in June over the course of this week, the rest of BVB's internationals followed suit on Saturday. For the many newcomers, it was the first time they had pulled on the Black & Yellow training kit.

The medical tests were the first item on the agenda at TU Dortmund on Saturday, with the late arrivals then meeting at the training ground in Brackel for extensive performance diagnostics on Sunday. Borussia's new signings Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck, Salih Özcan, Sébastien Haller and Karim Adeyemi – all of whom had been on duty with their national teams before their vacations – started pre-season in high spirits.

For the newcomers, the first session on the pitch and with the ball could come as early as Monday. Coach Terzic will hold a public training session in front of fans in the youth stadium at the training ground (also available via LIVE stream). The next friendly away to SC Verl is scheduled for Thursday (kick-off at 18:00 CET), with the Borussia team set to travel to their training camp in Bad Ragaz the following day.
