The draw for the UEFA Champions League round of 16, which took place on Monday lunchtime in Nyon, has pitted Borussia Dortmund against Chelsea.

The first leg at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK will take place on 14/15/21/22 February 2023. The return leg in London will follow on 7/8/14/15 March 2023. The exact fixture dates are expected to be confirmed on Monday evening.

"We'll be up against a top team from England that came out on top in the 2021 Champions League final. In Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic, we'll be reunited with two players who were recently with us. I'm a very close friend of the coach Graham Potter," said BVB boss Edin Terzic. "We're looking forward to the reunion and the matches. These are the kind of attractive opponents we envisage in the Champions League. Here, too, we will try to reach the next round."

This will be a premiere. BVB have played 36 matches against English opponents in European competition – but they have never faced the Stamford Bridge club, even though they are taking part in the competition for the 19th time (BVB for the 17th). That puts Chelsea level with Arsenal and behind only Manchester United (24) in the English all-time ranking. The Blues have already won the title two times – in 2012 and 2021. They were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Real Madrid last term. This season, Chelsea finished top of Group E above AC Milan, Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb, with 13 points (four wins, one draw and one defeat).

The pre-sale for the home game will start in mid-January.
