The BVB first team took to the training ground in Dortmund-Brackel for the first time in 2023 on Tuesday afternoon.

Following yesterday's performance diagnostics, BVB head coach Edin Terzic today put his players through their first training session of the New Year. Niklas Süle and Felix Passlack were the first players to take to the pitch. Wearing shorts, they seemed unperturbed by the temperatures of 09 degrees. Players who have missed recent months through injury such as Marco Reus, Marius Wolf and Mo Dahoud were also involved in the light session. New assistant coach Armin Reutershahn, who had already put in an appearance at the performance diagnostics on Monday, took to the pitch with the BVB players for the first time.

Further training sessions will take place in Dortmund this week, before the team depart for their training camp in Marbella, Spain on Friday. The Black & Yellows have organised two friendlies during that period – against Fortuna Düsseldorf (10/1 at 16:00 CET) and FC Basel (13/1 at 15:30 CET). Both matches will be broadcast live on BVB-TV by 1&1. The first competitive match of the year will take place on 22 January (15:30 CET), when FC Augsburg visit SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. (cr)
