We are all deeply shocked by the devastating earthquake that has brought unimaginable suffering to the people of Syria and Türkiye. More than 22,000 people have lost their lives in the disaster. Borussia Dortmund and SV Werder Bremen are thinking of all the victims and would like to make a small contribution to alleviate the suffering of the survivors.

Both teams, who will go head-to-head at the Weserstadion tomorrow, have spontaneously decided to donate money. In addition, the jerseys worn in tomorrow's match will be auctioned off for this good cause (on matchwornshirt.com).

"The images from the earthquake disaster in Türkiye and Syria that are reaching us are shocking. Our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, who are still worried about them – and of course with all the helpers. We have decided among ourselves in the team that we want to offer support quickly and unbureaucratically and ask you all to donate too. Every euro counts," said BVB captain Marco Reus.

Ömer Toprak, who played for both BVB and Werder, is presently organising concrete help on site and is in contact with his former team-mates to this end.

Both clubs would also like to call on you to help and make a donation to the people of Türkiye and Syria. One organisation that we trust is medico international (www.medico.de).
