Following the public training session on Tuesday afternoon, attacking player Julian Brandt took some time to hold a short media round with the journalists in attendance.

The primary topic of conversation was Brandt's contract extension until 2026, which was announced shortly before the training session. We have summarised the most important statements by the 26-year-old below.

Julian Brandt …

…on his thoughts prior to the contract extension: "I'm generally a person who takes his time and listens to his gut instinct. It's common knowledge that I feel very comfortable here, plus we're on a very positive trajectory. There has been a good development for myself and for the team – which is not yet finished, by the way. I simply wanted to extend my contract here and I'm very happy about it."

…on Edin Terzic's role: "There's great harmony. I also had times when things didn't go so well, but I was responsible for those myself. Edin has made certain demands of me which I can now fulfil, but which I also want to develop further."

…on his goals with BVB: "I came here with a clear vision four years ago. I still have this vision. It's clear that this vision also includes winning titles. We still have a title to chase this season. It's down to us to stay in the race until the end."

…on attention from other clubs: "Before you extend your contract, you of course ask yourself if you have doubts or if you 100% see yourself here. That was settled relatively quickly for me. At no time was I in any talks or listening to any other offers. I didn't want to turn it into a beauty contest. It was clear to me from the beginning that I still saw myself at BVB and that's how I approached our talks."

…on the timing of the announcement: "The prerequisite was that the talks were totally stress-free. Both parties were working towards the same goal. If there had been any obstacles in the way, we might have focused on football first as the season is simply too important. But there was no need for that because we came to a joint decision very quickly."

…on the season run-in: "Our task is to keep the league exciting for as long as possible. Conversely, that means that we have to win our matches. We fired two warning shots at ourselves in the games in Munich and Leipzig. I hope we now understand that every game from now on is a final. That means a lot of work and concentration, but I trust us with it all."
