Head coach Edin Terzic, sporting director Sebastian Kehl and players Gregor Kobel, Ian Maatsen and Niclas Füllkrug spoke following the victory in Köln. The match reactions.

Edin Terzic (to Sky): "We played well, started the game well and just couldn't see through our good attacks in the first half through to the end. We took the lead courtesy of a corner-kick routine that we rehearsed in training. Donyell Malen took both chances he had. He unfortunately missed many good chances in the first half-season. Today he was super. There were a lot of inaccuracies and careless losses of possession from us in the second half, which gave the Köln players the feeling that something was still possible here. The way we fought our way back into the game after that and won 4-0 was good. If we keep working like we did today, we'll be on a good path."

Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): "Maximum points haul, 7-0 goals. We've taken another step forward compared to the match in Darmstadt and can be satisfied with the development, even though we can do things better. The stability and the footballing quality we saw in many phases today looked really good. We conceded too many goals in the first half-season; that was a topic we wanted to work on. Gregor Kobel will also be delighted that he has kept a clean sheet again. We have to continue on this path of maintaining compactness and giving little away. We want to make January a very good month."

Gregor Kobel (in the mixed zone): "We have a very good attitude when it comes to defending. Sometimes it annoys me because a lot of people are running about in front of my face. They blocked a lot. We also had a bit of luck. I had to intervene once shortly after half-time. It can definitely be better, we're not yet where we would like to be. We can perform even more dominantly. We had very good phases with the ball and played out well from back. Ian (editor's note: Maatsen) is doing an outstanding job. He always wants to have the ball. He is very clever, also the way he positions himself. He always finds the right solutions with the ball. He really wants to win matches."

Ian Maatsen (in the mixed zone): "Our performance was good, we scored four goals. I'm happy to be here. And I like to have the ball often. (Editor's note: Prior to the goal for 2-0) I showed a good reaction, got the ball back and saw there was lots of space on Donny's side. He converted the pass and I have my first assist. Our fans are great. It is crazy the way that they support us on the pitch."

Niclas Füllkrug (in the mixed zone): "Winning against opponents who are usually unpleasant to play against and to beat them away from home is a step in the right direction. Köln had a plan, you could see that, but we scored at the right moments and showed our quality on the pitch. We gave away next to nothing today, were solid as a team and worked together. It played into our hands to score the early goal from the set-piece routine. That allowed us to take a more patient approach. Jadon wanted to take the penalty too, but I took it in the end and that was the right thing to do. It wasn't the first penalty I've taken. Believe me, his first Bundesliga goal for BVB will come soon enough. After a few games, he'll be a guaranteed scorer."
