Borussia Dortmund, the eight-time German champions, today opened the BVB-FanWorld in conjunction with the ‘REWE’ Family party. Thousands of fans, amongst them many professionals today took pictures of what will surely become a clear symbol of the club. Chief Executive Hans-Joachim Watzke commented, “This building is the realisation of a dream for the whole BVB family.”

From the moment of its inception to today’s grand opening has taken 18 months. As he opened the doors at 1000 this morning, Carsten Cramer (BVB director of marketing and commerce) said “Anyone who wants to get to know BVB is welcome to visit BVB-FanWorld.” By 1500 today some 12,500 visitors had taken up the invitation.

The all-new BVB adventureland is principally about one thing: Soul. Two six meter high club logos adorn the outside of the building and glow bright in the night sky. They define the new, sparkling building on the Strobeallee. Within lie 2000 square meters of Black n Yellow utopia. For the first time in the 105 year history of the club all facets of the commercial branch of the club are under one roof; merchandising, ticketing, travel, stadium tours, football boots, clubhouse as well as Strom09 and Mobil09 exhibits. Cramer noted that the facility has “great flexibility.”

On matchdays some 20 counters will be open offering the complete range of fan articles spread across some 600 square meters of showroom. Some 1000 different items, the most popular, of course, being the new kit.

For those that may have a moment of two of downtime, there is a small ten-meter long football pitch while a ball-pit complete with ‘Emma’ awaits our youngest visitors. Naturally there is also a smart café (with free wifi, of course) which has a terrace overlooking the Signal Iduna Park. At one rounded-off end of the building (designed by the architects Meyer/Schmitz-Morkramer) you will find a vast mural depicting the fabled South Stand in all its glory.

Carsten Cramer is satisfied that “our fans now have a one-stop shop and no longer have to traipse around town to find what they want.” BVB-FanWorld has easy access to the stadium and the B1.

It will be open daily, Monday-Saturday 1000-2000, Sundays 1000-1800. Parking is free.
