Emil Forsberg's goal in the dying seconds of extra-time against Werder Bremen fired Leipzig into the DFB-Pokal final. But it is one of his fellow forwards who is Leipzig's top scorer in the competition this season. Here are the facts on our cup opponents.

  • Rasenballsport Leipzig are in the DFB-Pokal final for the second time. Their debut final two years ago ended in a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Last season, they were eliminated at the last 16 stage by Eintracht Frankfurt.
  • The side from Saxony are not proven cup specialists. They have only 17 wins to their name from nine campaigns in the DFB-Pokal. By contrast, they already have 20 wins in European competition (from 42 games in total).
  • They didn't concede a single goal until the semi-final this term. Leipzig beat 1. FC Nuremberg and FC Augsburg 3-0 in the first and second rounds respectively, before running out 4-0 victors against VfL Bochum in the last 16 and winning 2-0 against VfL Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals. Werder Bremen forced them into extra-time in the semi-finals, but Leipzig won 2-1 following a goal in extra-time added time.
  • Yussuf Poulsen scored in every game apart from the semi-final. He is Leipzig's top scorer in this season's competition with five goals.
