Eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund and the fledgling platform eSports.com (www.esports.com) have agreed a cooperation that will offer BVB fans – and in particular, the younger target group who are interested in eSports –  special promotions. For example, for some time now it has been no secret that some BVB players enjoy playing the beautiful game on their consoles too.

BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer said: "In our new partner eSports.com, we've found the ideal platform to reach the large target group of people interested in eSports, which is gaining in importance. For us, it is especially important to place our core business – football – with this target group. To this end, a website that reaches millions of users and has a distinct clientele is naturally ideal. Both partners and in particular fans will benefit from this cooperation."

In the eyes of eSports.com-CEO Michael Broda, "the networks and the fans of Borussia ideally complement our already existing partnerships in America and Asia. We both want to use the enormous potential of these markets – so it's only natural to do it together."

By entering into this cooperation, Borussia Dortmund is remaining faithful to its approach in the field of eSports and, as it has with other sponsoring agreements, is looking to far-reaching and fruitful partnerships as a means of opening up new target groups for the topic of football. Carsten Cramer emphasised: "For us, it's not a matter of creating our own eSports team or making eSports into a BVB discipline. Rather it's much more about reaching the "Generation Z" on far-reaching platforms and enthusing them for our sport!"
