Unhappy with the result; self-reflective, but not dissatisfied with the performance. Such was the mood in the BVB camp after the 3-2 defeat in Bayern. "In the end, we scored one goal too few, or conceded one too many," said Marwin Hitz, while Erling Haaland commented on ''the big difference at the moment between the best team in the world, Bayern Munich, and us'' - namely making the most of chances. Here are the match reactions.

Lucien Favre: ''We could well have won this game. We had the chance to grab a 3-2 lead ourselves. We got a lot of things right, we pressed well. We managed to win the ball and we created several good goal-scoring opportunities. That was good.''

Erling Haaland: ''We could have won the match. Now, just after the game, it doesn't feel good, of course, because we were really close. For me, this is the big difference at the moment between the best team in the world, Bayern Munich, and us - they make the most of their chances and win their matches. I scored a goal, but I really should have got a second one. Most goalkeepers probably wouldn't have made the save, but Manuel Neuer did. We have to keep our heads up and keep playing our game. This will be important in the coming weeks.''

Marwin Hitz: "It really was an excellent game. Looking back at the goals, I'd have to say that Bayern got a bit lucky. We came back well after going 2-0 down, we tried to keep playing football. In the end we scored one goal too few, or conceded one too many. Whether it's deserved or not, that's hard to say. But obviously we can't be satisfied with the result. In the end, Bayern were fairly lucky with the winning goal, and that's frustrating for us. What we'll take from today is that we can play good football, but also that we conceded too many goals. The first one came after we had a set-piece down the other end. You can't let yourself get hit on the break like that, you have to be stronger in defence.''

Julian Brandt: ''Looking at the game as a whole, it's a slightly disappointing result for us. We had a few good chances to take the lead in the second half. But at the end of the day, one of Bayern's strong points is that they know how to make the most of their chances. Plus you'll never get that many gilt-edged chances when you play against them, so you have to be able to take one of them. We need to make sure we have the strength to do that. We wanted to put them under pressure today, and we did a great job overall. We managed to come from behind and we even had chances to turn the game on its head and take the lead. It was a good performance from us, and one which we can build on.''
