The BORUSSEUM has opened its doors again: "Many things come and go, players come and go, coaches come and go, and functionaries also come and go. But the club always remains," said BVB Vice President and patron Dr Reinhold Lunow during the celebratory event.

"The new BORUSSEUM has become very, very Borussian. You can't say it more aptly than that," explained Lunow, under whose leadership the conversion and the new museum concept came into being. In his opening speech, he pointed out two innovations. "In the new BORUSSEUM, the aim is to honour sporting successes. As important as these successes were for BVB, the events surrounding the near-insolvency were of much greater significance for Borussia Dortmund," said Lunow. "We came very close to losing our club and none of what we have experienced since then can be taken for granted. I particularly commend the 'dramas' theme to this."

In addition to the central function of the BORUSSEUM as a place of remembrance and discovery where the tradition of BVB is collected, preserved and presented, the club museum is also intended to be the place "where we demonstrate social responsibility. As football enjoys a very high status in all walks of life, the BORUSSEUM sees it as an obligation to use the great charisma of football to work towards upholding values such as tolerance, diversity and democracy, which are also part of the BVB's statutes."

Seven thematic areas and their sub-themes were defined for the new BORUSSEUM. "Tried and tested elements from the old exhibition were woven in, new themes were included - from the Klopp era to the DFB Pokal victory in 2021 to the BVB women's footballers of today," said Clemens Gatzmaga from the Machen exhibition office, which was responsible for the content curatorial work and developed the scenography and exhibition design together with the expert panel and the museum management. "Ups and downs, stories from on and off the pitch, thoughtful as well as funny - all this can be found here."
