Peter Bosz and Marcel Schmelzer spoke to sky and ARD after winning the match in Magdeburg. "Ultimately, my boys put in a great performance", said Peter Bosz. His captain opined upon the game in his hometown: "I was more nervous during this match than I have been in any other game in the last five, six, or seven years."

Peter Bosz: "As a manager, you are never 100% satisfied, but after such a game, you have got to be content. The atmosphere here was very good,  the crowd spurred on their own team, and Magdeburg fought hard. Ultimately, though, the boys put in a great performance. I know how things go in football, so a 5-0 win in the cup is certainly very important. It should settle us down a bit generally. 'Mo' took a knock to the head, and was immediately taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, I still don't know exactly what's wrong with him. Every game is important. We lead the table. Now we need to go to Hanover without sustaining any more injuries and win the match there."

Marcel Schmelzer: "I was more nervous during this match than I have been in any other game during the last five, six, or seven years. It is a special experience for me to play here in my hometown, and quite simply a pleasure to play a competitive fixture here again. It is not for nothing that Magdeburg are currently second in the 3. Bundesliga. It was not an easy game, and the atmosphere was fantastic, but we had got ourselves ready for that. We knew that things would get difficult. It's to our credit that we still managed to win 5-0. Well done to the team."

"Borussia played a great game"

Alexander Brunst (1. FC Magdeburg Goalkeeper): "We gave everything we had from the moment the game kicked-off. We were pretty exhausted by the end of the encounter. I'd like to thank the fans, they made for a great atmosphere and spurred us on. You have got to say though that Borussia played a great game." (djg)
