Goalkeeper Marcel Lotka, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Hertha BSC only a year ago and has a contract until 2024, has prematurely signed a year-long extension and committed himself to BVB until 2025.

The sporting director of the Borussia Dortmund U23s, Ingo Preuß, said the following of the contract extension: "From the first meeting, we were convinced that in Marcel we had found not only a talented young goalkeeper, but an ambitious and hard-working team player too. He has confirmed all of these estimations in his first year at BVB, where he has developed into one of the best players in his position in the 3. Liga."

"The move to Dortmund has proven to be the right one for me from day one," said Marcel Lotka, who continued: "At BVB, I feel the trust and support of the coaching staff, my team-mates and all the staff. I try to give this positive energy back in every training session and every game, and I'm very excited to keep learning for myself and my game here."

The Duisburg native has kept goal for the BVB second team in 24 U23 matches to date, keeping clean sheets in nine of them – including in three of the last four games, during which time coach Jan Zimmermann's side have managed to give themselves some breathing space by opening up a 10-point gap in the relegation battle.
