"I am overwhelmed and delighted that we were able to organise such a great family Sunday," said Svenja Schlenker, head of the women's and girls' football department, describing her feelings and impressions of the scenes at the Rote Erde stadium.

There were some 4,731 spectators at the Rote Erde last Sunday (14 April) when the BVB women won 4-1 against TV Brechten in front of a record crowd. As soon as you entered the stadium, it was clear that there was something for every fan – big or small. In addition to the EMMA bouncy castle, the autograph session with BVB legends Nobby Dickel, Leonardo Dede and Teddy de Beer was particularly popular, with long queues quickly forming in front of the autograph stations. Afterwards, fans had the opportunity to put their football skills to the test at the Eurowings goal wall shooting game, the REWE football boxes and the BVB goalkeeper trainer. "A really great and child-friendly supporting programme of events," said BVB fan Christine Gehlroth, summing up all the activities at the stadium.

An exclusive BVB Evonik Football Academy matchday course for girls took place before the stadium even opened its doors. In addition to a training session at the Rote Erde stadium, the BVB women's players also attended the session. After the successful training session, the girls were able to watch the match with their families.

The match between the first and second placed teams was not only a hit with BVB fans, Borussia Dortmund's handball players and Roman Weidenfeller were also in the audience. In addition, around 200 members of the BVB business network met at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in the morning for a joint brunch – and this time, they got to bring their partners and children for the first time. After enjoying their fill at brunch, they then headed to the Rote Erde to attend the women's team's big match.

The stands were full from the very first whistle and the chants and cheers of over 4,700 fans echoed through the stadium. "We've never played in front of a crowd like that before. It was great," said BVB captain Lisa Klemann.

When the attendance figures were announced, there was renewed jubilation, as no other women's soccer match in Germany this weekend had more spectators. The BVB foundation "Leuchte auf" was also delighted: a total of €5,364 was raised from ticket sales to benefit the foundation.  BVB coach Thomas Sulewski summed up the events of the matchday: "It was great fun!"

The fans were able to cheer on their team a total of four times before the final whistle blew after 90 minutes with the score at 4-1 – a result that puts Borussia 17 points ahead of the team in second place in the table. It also gave three fans in particular something to cheer about: BVB women's main and shirt sponsor CLARINS organised a prediction game with prizes that had it all: all correct guesses of the scoreline were entered into a draw to win two tickets for the second leg of the men’s first team match against Atletico Madrid, as well as vouchers from CLARINS. GLS also raffled off 09 fan packages to the spectators.

Special thanks go to the BVB women's partners, without whom this event would not have been possible: CLARINS, Eurowings, GLS, DSW21, REWE and Wilo.
