A 53% tackle win rate, 10 shots on goal to Bayern's 15 and 42 per cent possession - the match statistics do not really reflect the scoreline. Indeed Bayern really struggled in the opening 20 minutes, and the goals putting them 1-0 and 3-1 up really came at the right time. Here are the match facts.

Landmark match: Bayern Munich set a new record for the best-ever start to a Bundesliga season by winning their first eight matches, while Borussia Dortmund lost for the first time under Thomas Tuchel and recorded their biggest margin of defeat since 2009 (also a 5-1 loss at the hands of Bayern. 

First time: It was the first time a Thomas Tuchel side has conceded more than four goals in a Bundesliga game.

Hot streak: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set a new record by scoring on the first eight matchdays of a season. Including games at the tail end of last season, he has now scored on 10 consecutive matchdays - thus equalling Klaus Allofs' record.

Defensive reshuffle: Sven Bender played at centre-back for the first time in at least 20 months in the league, while it was Lukasz Piszczek's first time at left-back. In the first half Piszczek won each of his seven tackles, while Bender won six of seven.

First defeat: Borussia Dortmund suffered their first competitive defeat in 15 matches under the management of Thomas Tuchel.

Second half goals glut: Robert Lewandowski has scored each of his eleven goals this season after the break. Against BVB he scored directly after the restart.
