Borussia Dortmund has set itself the task of offering children and young people in the area the opportunity to take part in qualified training courses at the BVB Evonik Football Academy. In the future, young players born between the years of 2010 and 2012 in the Wülfrath FC catchment area, will be coached following a scouting mission by a Borussia Dortmund youth coaching team. The local training session takes place once a week, separated by age groups.

Wülfrath FC will be working side by side with BVB. In addition to performance-related training sessions, in the future, there will also be sessions during holiday camps in Wülfrath. The cooperation between Wülfrath FC and Borussia Dortmund also includes training for coaches as well as the coaching courses organised by Borussia Dortmund, talent scouting days held at Wülfrath FC, regularly matches and friendlies between the partner clubs and, in addition, the mutual participation in tournaments. In addition, selected young Wülfrath FC players will receive a scholarship for free participation in the weekly BVB Evonik Football Academy performance courses held on site.

Borussia Dortmund and Wülfrath FC invite children and young people who live within 40 kilometres of Wülfrath and are interested in participating in the BVB Evonik Football Academy “Day of Talents.” There, BVB and Wülfrath FC coaches will scout suitable talent there, who will then receive an invitation to participate in the BVB Evonik Football Academy performance-oriented course model. The scouting day is scheduled for 22 March, 2020. Registration is possible from 28.02.2020 via the registration form.

Training is on offer free of charge during a brief trial period. After that, a fee of €12 for each training will be charged. During the trial period, children are selected who are provided with a BVB scholarship and can continue to participate in the training free of charge.

"We are very pleased to have found in Wülfrath FC a cooperation partner in the Niederbergische Land. Together we now have the opportunity to help children in this region and develop their footballing skills. Year after year, numerous children and young people take part in the BVB Evonik Football Academy holiday and support course models. The Academy enables particularly talented players to participate in performance-related courses. In addition to other partner clubs, this participation is now also possible in Wülfrath," said Torsten Sengteller, Sporting director of the BVB Evonik Football Academy.

Michael Friese, deputy Youth manager of Wülfrath FC added: "Wülfrath FC is also looking forward to working with BVB. We noticed many similarities from our very first meeting. With a strong partner at our side, the coaches will benefit from BVB's extensive training opportunities. In this day and age, training is also very important in football. And if the coach is doing his job well, then the individual player benefits as well."
