After almost seven weeks of full-throttle football, calm has once again descended on the site of the BVB Evonik Football Academy. Over those seven weeks, some 700 children were able to train like the professionals during the summer holidays!

Whether they were basking in sunshine or braving the rain, training and fun were the main focus every week. Our coaches not only taught the children the sporting and football basics, such as receiving and carrying the ball, passing, shooting, dribbling and goalkeeping – they also taught them social skills.

The half-time events during the courses demanded both skill and concentration from the children, and in the nutrition workshop they were explained the difference between healthy and unhealthy food in a playful manner. Club mascot EMMA also popped by to greet all the participants, of course. The day of our anniversary was a particular highlight. On the day, EMMA even brought us a birthday cake and we were able to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the BVB Evonik Football Academy. What's more, we were lucky enough to be able to exhibit the DFB-Pokal trophy at four out of seven summer holiday courses. This was, of course, the perfect opportunity to take individual or group pictures. This was also a highlight for the spectators, because mum and dad, grandma and grandpa and all the people who came along were allowed to take a photo with the coveted cup at the end of the day.

Of course, every week, the stadium tour through SIGNAL IDUNA PARK was not to be missed. In small groups, our hard-working young players were able to experience a great tour of the stadium. Of course, we were able to have a look at the dressing rooms, the tunnel and the bench where the coaches sit. The stadium tour is of course something very special! Every day, we ate lunch together in the VIP area. That gave us another chance to take a look at the pitch.

In addition, we had PUMA as a guest on our grassroots tour. Here, our enthusiastic young players were able to show their skills in the small footbonauts.

At the end of the week, every participant received a medal, a certificate and the latest edition of Borussini.

Next up after the summer holidays are courses before the autumn holidays! Once again, there will be plenty going on in and around Dortmund – you can find all the information here!
