The Borussia Dortmund women's football team comfortably went about their business away to bottom club Silschede. Mandy Reinhardt and Marie Grothe both bagged braces in a 6-0 win at the Waldstadion in Gevelsberg.

Alexandra Popp had created some extra publicity on social media for the "sporting highlight of the year". The Germany international began her unique career at FC SW Silschede. 500 fans answered her summons and created an atmospheric mood at the Waldstadion.

But it quickly became clear from the on-pitch action who would emerge as winners. Mandy Reinhardt – back in the starting XI after suspension – put the Black & Yellows on the path to victory after 56 seconds. Vanessa Kuhl (6) and then Mandy Reinhardt again (9) further extended the advantage to 3-0 in the opening stages and put the result to bed early on.

Mia Macarena Bedarf scored her first goal for BVB on her first start to make it 4-0 at half-time. "I've been working towards this for a very long time, and I'm simply delighted that I'm fit again and that I scored a goal too of course," the new signing said.

After the interval, current top scorer Marie Grothe struck again with a two-goal salvo, taking full advantage of assists from Mandy Reinhardt and Hanna Hentrich to make it six (50/55). It remained one-way traffic in the final half-hour, but Borussia were lacking intent and fortune in front of goal. Coach Thomas Sulewski drew a positive conclusion nonetheless, saying: "We dominated the match the whole time; it was only towards the end that we spurned a few opportunities. In any case, it was a significant improvement compared to the last few weeks. We're very satisfied with this and will go into next week's top match well-prepared."

On the agenda next Sunday (30 October) is the table-topping clash between the league leaders from the Strobelallee and second-placed VfL Senden. Kick-off at the BVB Evonik Football Academy is at 15:00 CET.

BVB: Schröer – Hentrich, Jung, Rechenbach, Klemann – Becker – Lau (Auffenberg, 54), Grothe (Rogge-Herper, 60), Bedarf (Zabell, 54), Kuhl (Billig, 60) – Reinhardt (Goosmann, 77)
