Lucas Barrios has fond memories of his three years at Borussia Dortmund, where he won the league and cup twice apiece. During the Legends Cup in Sao Paulo, our former number 18 made his first appearance for the Black & Yellow Legends alongside former team-mates Dede, Tinga & Co. After helping BVB to third place at the tournament in Brazil, he went pitchside and answered questions – all in German – that fans had asked via social media for the latest episode of our "From Borusse to Borusse" series.

Who do you think was the best Dortmund player during your time?

I played alongside Mario Götze, but Shinji Kagawa was very strong too. All in all, we had a super team.

Who was or is your best friend at BVB?

Roman Weidenfeller, he's a good friend of mine. He really helped me when I lived in Germany. We South Americans appreciate the support we're given when we move to another country. I'm still in touch with him to this day. I've also met up with Shinji since. I have a lot of friends in Dortmund.

Having hung up your boots, do you continue to follow BVB games and have you been to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK?

Of course, I'm a BVB fan. I obviously give the games a watch whenever Dortmund are playing. I like the current team. I might be living a long way away from Dortmund, but I'm always delighted to see BVB in action.

Do you miss the weather in Dortmund?

Yes (laughs). In all honestly, it really wasn't all that easy for me to adapt back then. But when the environment around you is right, the weather is not a problem.

Who's your favourite player at present?

Jadon Sancho. I've always said that he's a very good player. He's quick, he scores goals...that's important. I hope that he continues to do so and I also hope that Dortmund win the Champions League again.

How happy are you that you're now part of the BVB Legends Team?

I'm very happy because I have a lot of friends here – Tinga, Deda and the others. While I didn't play alongside Jan Koller back then, I do know him. But I did play with Mo Zidan, for example, during that time. We gave everything for BVB and that's why we've been included in the Legends Team now.

How would you sum up your time at BVB in a nutshell?

It was the best period of my career.
