Following a successful debut season, the Borussia Dortmund girls' and women's football department has registered a second team for match operations. BVB women II, who will start in the Kreisliga in the 2022/23 campaign, officially commenced training on Monday.

The squad of the newly-formed women's second team consists of 22 players, 19 of whom successfully made it through the recruitment training in May. They are joined by Neele Dröter, Lilli Prinzen and Anna Lena West from the first team. The team is to be coached by head coach Ingo Kuhl and assistant Janna Härtel.

The first official training session took place on 25 July on the premises of the BVB Evonik Football Academy, but several joint activities involving the two teams had already taken place beforehand. In mid-July, a mixed group from both teams went sailing on Lake IJssel, with the players then coming together at a season-opening event at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK a short while afterwards. In mid-August, both teams will then lay the groundwork for the new season together during a four-day training camp.
