In addition to ex-captain Marco Reus, two other players who will be leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season bade farewell to the club at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK at the final Bundesliga match of the 2023/24 season against SV Darmstadt. Top talent coach Otto Addo was also given a final round of applause from the South Stand.

Marius Wolf was the first to run over to the touchline. Managing Directors Carsten Cramer, Lars Ricken and Thomas Treß, Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl and the club's executive board consisting of Dr Reinhold Lunow, Silke Seidel and Bernd Möllmann and Honorary President Dr. Reinhard Rauball presented Wolf, Morey and Addo with bouquets of yellow flowers and trophies to commemorate their time at BVB. Their team-mates interrupted their warm-up to applaud along with the spectators.

Marius Wolf first arrived at BVB in 2018 but subsequently joined Hertha BSC and 1. FC Köln on loan. The defender returned to Dortmund in 2021 and made a total of 120 appearances (five goals and six assists) in Black & Yellow. His versatility is his great strength: there have been times when he started on the left of attack and finished on the right of defence. He won the DFB-Pokal with BVB in 2021. "He has always behaved like the perfect sportsman. He made no secret of the fact that he was a true Borusse," said stadium spokesman Nobby Dickel.

"An outstanding guy is leaving Borussia Dortmund," said Dickel of Mateu Morey. The defender has worn the Borussia Dortmund shirt for five years. The 24-year-old Spaniard made 50 competitive appearances for BVB. The fact that it was not more is because of a serious knee injury which he sustained in the semi-final of the DFB-Pokal in 2021 and which forced him to take a long break due to several setbacks. It was only in February that the defender made his first appearance in front of a full house. He also won the DFB-Pokal with BVB.

Young players have always been able to turn to him: Otto Addo has worked at the intersection between the first team and the youth set-up since 2019, looking after the talented youngsters and introducing them to the first-team squad. After his playing career – during which he scored a dream goal with a cruciate ligament injury – Addo is leaving BVB for a second time: he has now decided to take on a new challenge as Ghana's national team coach. We're happy and proud to have had him with us," said Dickel. (cr)
