BVB women's handballers to finish season at home to Buxtehude

The Borussia Dortmund women's handballers will play host to Buxtehuder SV in the final game of the season. The match will take place at Halle Wellinghofen at 19:00 CEST on Saturday. Henk Groener's team will be aiming to finish off the 2023/24 season on a successful note.

"We're all eager to have a great end to the season, want to pick up two points and then celebrate together with the fans once again," emphasised Meret Ossenkopp. It will be the right-winger's final match in a Black & Yellow shirt after two years at BVB. In the summer, she will move to Copenhagen. "It will be very emotional for me and on top of that it's against my old team. But I'm delighted that I will be able to play for BVB once again," said the 25-year-old, adding: "There have been many special moments during my time in Dortmund, such as the Final Four of the European League in Graz and the match at a sold-out Westfalenhalle. I'll never forget that." Ossenkopp is not only focused on the sporting side of things, however. "I've gotten to know many great people here and the fans have always gotten behind us. I definitely wouldn't want to do without that and will always look back positively on my time at BVB. Now I want to celebrate a fitting ending."

After two defeats, BVB want to finish off the season on a victorious note. Last weekend, the team suffered a 29-28 defeat away to HSG Bensheim/Auerbach. And they also came away empty-handed from their rescheduled clash away to champions SG BBM Bietigheim in midweek, losing 31-20. That meant that BVB, currently fourth, can no longer finish second. Opponents Buxtehude are currently on an opposite trajectory and will travel to Dortmund on the back of two wins against Zwickau and Halle-Neustadt. BVB won the reverse fixture up north at the end of January 26-25.

Throw-off in the return fixture is at 19:00 CEST. Tickets are available via the Online Ticket Shop. Sportdeutschland.TV and Dyn Media will broadcast the match via live-stream.
