Borussia Dortmund home matches: Getting there and parking

We recommend travelling by public transport, fan buses, on foot or by bike.

If you cannot do without your own car, you should definitely set off in good time and be sure to follow the instructions of the parking guidance system in the event zone. Delays can occur when arriving and leaving.

Parking around SIGNAL IDUNA PARK

There are over 10,000 paid parking spaces available around the stadium. Parking tickets must be purchased online in advance. Please have your parking permits ready in good time to present them at the pre-entry checks or at the car park entrances, thereby speeding up the process.

  • Parking permits for car parks A1 to A8 can be purchased via Messe Dortmund.
  • Parking permits for car parks C1/C2, D1/D2, E1 to E3 and F1 to F3 can be purchased via DOPARK 21.
  • The BVB car park B Luftbad is not available for free use.

Please note the directions to the various car parks, as some roads may be closed: Download directions as a PDF.

Further parking options are available in the multi-storey car parks in the city centre.

Information on departure: Please be patient when leaving. There may be waiting times, particularly at the car parks in the event zone, as many fans will be leaving the area at the same time. The exits of some car parks (in particular car parks A8, B Luftbad, B Süd and B West) will be closed from around the 80th minute of the match until approximately 40 minutes after the final whistle to allow spectators to leave on foot first. Access to the stadium (in the Im Rabenloh & Strobelallee area) is generally not possible for approximately two hours after the final whistle..

Important information on getting there

You can find an overview of all public toilets, as well as the locations of accessible public toilets, on the City of Dortmund website.

Parallel events such as trade fairs and concerts frequently take place in the nearby Westfalenhallen. On such days, increased traffic is to be expected. Furthermore, many parking spaces are likely to be occupied. We will provide updates on this at short notice.

Journey routes::

Destination address for sat-navs: Once you reach Dortmund city centre, please follow the instructions of the parking guidance system and municipal staff, and switch off your sat-navs! Do not enter the stadium’s address. As various roads may be closed on match days, please trust the parking guidance system and municipal staff. The car parks directly at the stadium are only available to holders of pre-issued parking permits.

Set off in good time; the roads in Dortmund get very busy on BVB home matchdays.

Low-emission zone: The SIGNAL IDUNA PARK and the surrounding car parks are located within Dortmund’s low-emission zone. This means that only vehicles in certain emission categories – and therefore only those displaying a sticker indicating compliance with specific emission standards – are permitted to enter the city centre. This is intended to reduce excessive levels of particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide in the air.

Special considerations when travelling by car

E-mobility: Charging stations are located in car park A3, amongst other places. There are eight charging points, each with a capacity of 11 kW. Further information can be found on the Messe Dortmund website. Please note, however, that the electric charging points in the Strobelallee area and the Fanwelt are located within the event area on match days and are not publicly accessible due to road closures.

Special arrangements for coach travel

Coaches carrying home fans may access car park C2 (Am Sonnenblick) and pay the parking fee on site. Away fans should park in car park E3 (Viktor-Toyka-Str.).

Parking permits for away coaches can be purchased in advance on the DOPARK 21 website.

Special arrangements for arriving by motorhome

Motorhomes may park in car park D2 during home matches – subject to availability. The cost is €20 per day (up to 7.5 tonnes). No facilities for water supply or waste disposal are provided. Parking tickets can be purchased in advance on the DOPARK 21 website.

The main light rail line towards SIGNAL IDUNA PARK is the U45 (Fredenbaum – Hauptbahnhof – Westfalenhallen), which runs at least every five minutes between the Hauptbahnhof (main station) and Stadion (stadium) stops from around three hours before kick-off until 90 minutes after the final whistle. In the evenings, trams run every 15 minutes until around 00:30.

SIGNAL IDUNA PARK is also easily accessible via tram lines U42 (Grevel – Stadtgarten – Hombruch) and U46 (Brunnenstraße – Stadtgarten – Westfalenhallen). The nearest stops to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK are Theodor-Fliedner-Heim (U42) and Westfalenhallen (U46).

Getting there by bus

Bus routes 450, 453 and 448

Bus route 450 will be significantly reinforced with additional vehicles between Kirchhörde and Westfalenhallen.

In addition, after the match, an extra electric bus will run on route 453 (“Löschteich electric bus”) from Westfalenhallen to Schüren/Aplerbeck, and an extra electric bus will run on route 448 from Barop Parkhaus towards Kruckel.

Travelling by train

Due to engineering works, occasional restrictions, delays and train cancellations are to be expected; therefore, please check the availability of your desired route regularly and shortly before setting off using DB Navigator. Information on special trains or trains with additional stops is usually displayed here in the search results. You can also find details of special services and capacity on the RB 59 (Eurobahn) at eurobahn.de.

From Dortmund Hauptbahnhof (main station), there are various options for travelling by regional train to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK station or by underground to Westfalenhalle/Stadion.

Please note that capacity on the platforms and on public transport is limited. To avoid overcrowding and ensure a safe journey to and from the venue, please allow plenty of time.

For your return journey: Please be patient when leaving via public transport. Capacity on the platforms and in public transport is particularly limited at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK station. To avoid overcrowding and ensure a safe journey home, please allow plenty of time.

You can drive up to the Wittekindstraße taxi rank. Alternatively, you can drive up to the taxi point near the Am Sonnenblick bus turning loop.

After the match, the road in front of the stadium is closed to traffic for approximately two hours. Taxis can usually be found at the Wittekindstraße taxi rank during this time.

For all home matches, the ADFC provides 1,000 free bicycle parking spaces directly at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Private e-scooters can also be parked there. Bicycle parking is available from 105 minutes before kick-off and closes no later than 60 minutes after the final whistle.

Locations of the parking facilities: The first site is on the north-west side of the stadium in the Strobelallee area, on the corner of Rabenloh, opposite the Fanwelt. The facility has a capacity for approx. 400 bicycles. The second site is in the north-east, opposite the Helmut-Körnig-Halle and next to the Rosenterrassen. There is also space for approx. 400 bicycles here. The third site is in the south-east of the stadium on Bolmker Weg / corner of Schwimmweg, near the swimming pool. There is space here for approx. 200 bicycles, 15 of which are in existing bike racks.

A map overview of the bicycle parking facilities can be found on the following OpenStreetMap. Further information on the ADFC’s services can be found on the ADFC’s website.

A restricted zone for e-scooters has been established around SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, meaning they cannot be parked or logged out there. Possible parking locations near the stadium include the southern end of the Ardeyblick allotment gardens, the area east of the Westfalenhalle and Max-Ophüls-Platz.

And another well-intentioned tip: as mobile networks in the event area often collapse well before kick-off during major events, users of the relevant app may not be able to log in to log out the scooter, which could result in unwanted charges. All the more reason not to park e-scooters in the immediate vicinity of the stadium.

Dortmund Airport offers various direct connections to and from many European cities. Distance to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK: 12 km.

You can find all information about Dortmund Airport at dortmund-airport.de.

Other airports:

  • Düsseldorf Airport: 63 km
  • Cologne/Bonn Airport: 96 km

On match days, there are no facilities around SIGNAL IDUNA PARK for fans and guests to get in or out of vehicles briefly. We therefore recommend using the Park & Ride car parks in the wider vicinity for drop-off or pick-up.
