A hat-trick in 29 minutes: Guirassy stars in 4-1 win for Guinea

Serhou Guirassy shone for Guinea in a 4-1 win over Ethiopia in Africa Cup of Nations qualification. The Black & Yellow striker scored a perfect hat-trick in the first half.

The attacker scored his first goal in the 18th minute from the penalty spot and added a second shortly afterwards, beating Ethiopia goalkeeper Habtamu one-on-one after a long ball (37). In first-half injury time, the 28-year-old completed a hat-trick: Kamano's through ball was met with a vicious first-time strike by Guirassy, leaving Ethiopia's keeper with no chance (45+2).

After 64 minutes, the striker left the pitch to applause and was replaced by striker Mohamed Bayo.

After two defeats in their opening two matches, this was Guinea's first victory in their third game in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The West Africans are third in Group H, one point behind Tanzania, with the Democratic Republic of Congo leading the way with nine points. Guirassy and Guinea will play away to Ethiopia on Tuesday (kick-off 21:00 CEST).

Gregor Kobel, on the other hand, had a less successful Saturday evening, as his Swiss national team lost 2-0 to Serbia. This means that Switzerland have yet to pick up a point in the third Nations League game and will be under pressure when they face Denmark on Tuesday (kick-off 20:45 CEST).

On Sunday evening, the action continues with a Black & Yellow clash: the Austria national team, featuring Marcel Sabitzer, will face Julian Ryerson's Norway (20:45 CEST).
