Serhou Guirassy nominated for African Footballer of the Year

BVB striker Serhou Guirassy has been nominated for the ‘African Footballer of the Year’ award by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The winner of the award will be announced at the ceremony in Marrakesh on 16 December.

The decision is based on the performance of the nominated players between January and October 2024. In addition to Serhou Guirassy, the African Football Confederation has nominated nine other players, including ex-Borussia player Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain.

The winner is determined by a jury consisting of the CAF Technical Committee, media experts, head coaches and captains of the member associations and the clubs participating in the group stages of the interclub competitions. In 2023, the title of ‘African Footballer of the Year’ was awarded to Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
