The Black & Yellow schedule for December

The Borussia Dortmund first team will contest four matches in the final month of the year: three in the Bundesliga and one in the UEFA Champions League. The month will start with a highlight for the BVB women. And the Club World Cup will also cast its shadow in December.

Sunday 1 December (15:00 CET): BVB women vs. Iserlohn
On the first Sunday of Advent, the BVB women will welcome FC Iserlohn in the Westfalenliga’s top match. Fans can look forward to a colourful entertainment programme at the match at Stadion Rote Erde. The BVB women are currently in first place in the Westfalenliga with 34 points on the board, while Iserlohn have collected four points fewer and are in third place. The first game of the second half-season will therefore be a real top match. Kick-off is at 15:00 CET, with the stadium set to open at 14:00 CET. Admission is free.

Thursday 5 December (19:00 CET): Draw for the FIFA Club World Cup
The groups for the Club World Cup, which will take place in the USA in 2025, will be drawn in Miami. The draw will start at 13:00 local time (19:00 CET) and will be shown live on FIFA.com, FIFA+ and other channels. The tournament will start on 15 June 2025, with the final to be played on 13 July. In addition to BVB, Bayern Munich will be the second German team taking part in the competition.

Saturday 7 December (18:30 CET): Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. BVB
The battle of the Borussias is the top match of Matchday 13. BVB will travel to the Lower Rhine to face Borussia Mönchengladbach. Following a run of three successive away defeats at Borussia-Park, the Black & Yellows were victorious in their most recent away game: BVB won 2-1 in April thanks to a brace from Marcel Sabitzer.

Wednesday 11 December (21:00 CET): BVB vs. Barcelona
Matchday 6 in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League will see Barcelona make the trip to the Ruhr region. The Black & Yellows are still unbeaten at home against the Spaniards: BVB drew 1-1 (H) and lost 2-0 (A) in the European Super Cup matches in 1997; in the 2019/20 Champions League campaign, the teams played out a 0-0 draw in Dortmund before the hosts ran out 3-1 victors in the return fixture. In the current league phase, Barcelona occupy third position – one place ahead of BVB, who are level on points. The Spaniards lost in Monaco on Matchday 1 but have since been victorious against Young Boys, Bayern, Red Star and Brest.

Sunday 15 December (17:30 CET): BVB vs. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
Christian Ilzer only visited SIGNAL IDUNA PARK as the coach of Sturm Graz at the beginning of November. He returns 40 days later – in charge of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Ilzer took over the reins from Pellegrino Matarazzo in November with the team one point above the relegation play-off place. TSG Hoffenheim ran out 3-2 winners on their most recent visit to Dortmund. Current BVB player Maximilian Beier played a decisive role in that game, scoring two goals.

Sunday 22 December (17:30 CET): VfL Wolfsburg vs. BVB
The 2024 calendar year will come to an end with an away game in Wolfsburg. Two days before Christmas, BVB will travel to Lower Saxony to face VfL. It will already be their second meeting this season: the two teams went head-to-head in the DFB-Pokal at the end of October, when BVB succumbed to a 1-0 second-round defeat after extra-time. Of their 29 away matches in total in Wolfsburg, BVB have won 14. Eight games have been won by VfL, while seven matches have ended in draws.
