Pre-Match Report
SAT.1 and DAZN to broadcast | Stieler to referee
Friday: Unbeaten in 21 years
The Black & Yellows are unbeaten at their own stadium on a Friday evening in 39 home games over 21 years! Their most recent home defeat on that day of the week came against Schalke 04 in January 2004 (1-0). And: Borussia Dortmund have also not lost their first Bundesliga match of a calendar year since then, racking up a total of 15 victories and five draws in their first match of the year since January 2005.
Kits: BVB in black and yellow
Borussia Dortmund will line up as per usual in yellow shirts with black shorts and yellow socks. Leverkusen will take to the field in all-red strips with black sleeves.
Referee: Stieler in charge
Sascha Stegemann, who was originally scheduled to referee the match, is ill. He will be replaced by Tobias Stieler. Stieler has already refereed BVB’s home game against Leipzig (2-1) and the away game in Mönchengladbach (1-1) this season. Fourth official Frank Willenborg, who was initially scheduled, is also ill. Florian Badstübner will stand in for him. As planned, Christof Günsch and Frederick Assmuth will complete the team on the lines. Robert Schröder will be in the VAR booth.
Tickets: Secondary market open
The home game against Leverkusen is sold-out. The visitors will be supported by 8,000 fans. The Secondary Market is open until 18:00 CET on game day. It offers ticket holders a legal way to sell on their season or match tickets via the BVB Ticket Shop if they are unable to attend the match at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in person. The ticket holder does not need to hand over their match ticket or their season ticket because the tickets can be blocked electronically and subsequently released again. The Secondary Ticket Market is available for all sold-out home games.
Travel: Ticket included in your ticket
This service from BVB and DSW21 is still unique in the Bundesliga: the match ticket for SIGNAL IDUNA PARK entitles you to an outbound and homeward journey in the entire state of NRW. This also applies to holders of plastic season ticket cards. Holders of a "print@home ticket" or a "mobile ticket" (for example, Apple Wallet) need to have a public transport ticket, which can be ordered online free of charge on this site, in addition to their match ticket.
Live broadcast: SAT.1, DAZN and Net Radio
The match can be watched live on TV via the free channel SAT.1 and the paid live streaming service DAZN. SAT.1 will start the broadcast at 19:50 CET. Wolff-Christoph Fuss (picture) will commentate on the match. The BVB Net Radio will give you the usual Black & Yellow take. Norbert Dickel and Boris Rupert will be the reporters. The BVB Net Radio starts 15 minutes before kick-off. It is available to everyone on the homepage and in the BVB app on iPhone and Android devices. Match highlights plus the press conference and match reactions will be available via BVB-TV, among others.
Weather: Wet and cold
The weather forecast for Friday: After a mix of sun, snow and sleet, with temperatures narrowly above freezing, there may be light snowfall during the match, when the temperature will be zero degrees.
Live ticker: Over to the app
BVB's digital channels operate at full throttle on matchday. And that's not only the case during the match, but throughout the matchday too – starting at 09:09 CET, of course.
