I also want to prove my leadership qualities with a different team. There are many different aspects, and these are just a few reasons why I chose Dortmund. The list is long.<\/p>\n<p><b>You\u2019ve won German championships. You\u2019ve won the Champions League. Next year, you\u2019ll be aiming for a Regionalliga title and the Westfalenpokal. What motivates you, then?<br>\n<\/b>The vision of achieving something great. Not getting certain things handed to you on a plate, but really saying: We\u2019re working our way up step by step \u2013 from the regional league to the second division and into the Bundesliga. There\u2019s something big behind that. That\u2019s what I find so exciting. And it shows what\u2019s already happened at the club. Then there are the fans \u2013 it\u2019s incredible how they\u2019re already filling the stadiums. I\u2019m looking forward to being out on the pitch soon, creating that atmosphere and feeling that DNA. \u201cHeja BVB\u201d is already a thing.<\/p>\n<p><b>What sort of goalkeeper can BVB fans look forward to? How would you describe yourself?<br>\n<\/b>Definitely passionate. I try to be vocal, but at the same time carefully assess what the team needs. But I love the fans. I love it when the fans make a noise. It\u2019s not for nothing that they call us the 12th woman on the pitch, and we want to achieve something together with the fans. And when the fans are loud, when we\u2019re loud on the pitch, we can create something great. And then you\u2019ll see me in all my glory on the pitch \u2013 or even off it. I love it when a club has tradition and a distinct identity. And for me, there\u2019s already a great foundation in place to build on. 3,500 fans at Regionalliga matches \u2013 that\u2019s incredible. You often don\u2019t get that many in the top flight. I hope that we girls on the pitch can continue to ensure that more and more people come to BVB.<\/p>\n<p><b>You once said: \u201cFor me, there are no small goals. I only set myself big ones.\u201d What goals have you set yourself here at Borussia Dortmund?<br>\n<\/b>Quite a few. Over the next few years, we want to make our way up to the Bundesliga, so that in future we can build something for the girls coming through in our own club. And you have to set yourself big goals so that you also have smaller milestones along the way. And I can feel the energy in the club from the people I\u2019ve spoken to. What made you decide to make the move?<br>\n<\/b>I knew that I wanted to play for Borussia Dortmund at some point. I\u2019m from Dortmund, I grew up with BVB, I used to watch the matches even as a child, and it was clear to me that I would have to play for this club one day. Now the time has come.<\/p>\n<p><b>Even so, is there a touch of sadness about leaving Essen?<br>\n<\/b>Yes, of course. I grew up and developed as a footballer in Essen. I owe a great deal to Essen. It\u2019s a very close-knit environment that welcomed me with open arms and supported me over many years. So, it\u2019s by no means an easy step to make the move now. Nevertheless, I\u2019m happy to be playing for BVB now and to experience something new.<\/p>\n<p><b>Even though the manager, Markus Högner, is an old acquaintance?<br>\n<\/b>Without Markus, I wouldn\u2019t be where I am today. He brought me up from the U17s and I\u2019m incredibly grateful to him for everything he\u2019s made possible for me. After a year apart, I\u2019m glad to have him back as my manager because we simply know what we can expect from each other. Of course, we\u2019ve both developed over the past year, so I\u2019m also curious to see what it\u2019ll be like to train with him again.<\/p>\n<p><b>How would you describe yourself as a player?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019m a hard worker. I throw myself into every tackle and love it every time I win one, sliding in and giving it my all. In attack, I enjoy coaching the players. That means I can control the team from the back and help my teammates that way.<\/p>\n<p><b>You were at home in the Bundesliga. Now it\u2019s the Regionalliga next season. Why are you still convinced that this is the right move for you personally?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019ve noticed how committed BVB are to developing the women\u2019s team. Everything and everyone behind it, everything that\u2019s achieved off the pitch \u2013 it\u2019s top-level professionalism. I want to be part of it, take the next step with BVB and help the club move forward.<\/p>\n<p><b>You were born in Schwerte, started playing football at SV Sölderholz, did your PhD at TU Dortmund and are active in the volunteer fire brigade. What does Dortmund mean to you as a city?<br>\n<\/b>Dortmund is my home. I grew up in Lichtendorf and still live in Lichtendorf. You could almost say I belong to Dortmund just as much as BVB (laughs).<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"/content/dam/bvbweb/en/news/2026/06/09/interview-ostermeier/Ostermeier-Interview-3.jpg\" data-assetref=\"Ostermeier-Interview-3-1780919880350\"><\/p>\n<p><b>And how much is BVB a part of you?<br>\n<\/b>I grew up with BVB. As a small child, I first played football myself in Sölderholz. Afterwards, I\u2019d always watch the BVB matches, get caught up in the excitement, and sometimes head straight back out into the garden afterwards because I wanted to do better if BVB had lost (laughs). So, BVB played a big part in my life from an early age, and it\u2019s lovely that I can now do something for BVB.<\/p>\n<p><b>You didn\u2019t have that chance back then, as there was no women\u2019s football at BVB. How have you experienced the developments over the past few years?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019ve been following it ever since it was discussed at the general meeting. When it was decided that there would be a women\u2019s team, I was absolutely delighted. I also thought it was absolutely the right move to build women\u2019s football from the ground up rather than buying our way into a higher division. That\u2019s what makes BVB what it is. Of course, I would have been happy if it had happened a bit sooner, but I\u2019m still glad that the women\u2019s team is now where it is and that I\u2019m part of it from now on.<\/p>\n<p><b>What does it mean to you emotionally?<br>\n<\/b>It\u2019s simply a childhood dream. Back then, you didn\u2019t really think about it that much. At some point, it became clear that you couldn\u2019t actually play for BVB because there was no women\u2019s or girls\u2019 team. That\u2019s why I\u2019m all the more delighted that I\u2019ll finally be able to fulfil that dream from this summer.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are your goals \u2013 both personally and with BVB?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019d obviously like to get as much playing time as possible. And to be perfectly honest, I want to win titles with BVB. Unfortunately, I didn\u2019t manage to win a single title at Essen. That\u2019s why I\u2019d be absolutely delighted if we could celebrate league titles and promotion here. But the most important thing, above all else, is to stay healthy.<\/p>\n<p><b>Instead of Hafenstraße, it\u2019ll be Strobelallee for you from now on. As a Dortmund native, how much are you looking forward to the Rote Erde stadium?<br>\n<\/b>At Essen, we certainly had one of the best stadiums in the top flight. But the Rote Erde stadium is much richer in tradition and has a completely different character. I was at the stadium for the derby against Schalke. That was very special and I even got goosebumps just sitting in the crowd. What made you decide to make the move?<br>\n<\/b>I knew that I wanted to play for Borussia Dortmund at some point. I\u2019m from Dortmund, I grew up with BVB, I used to watch the matches even as a child, and it was clear to me that I would have to play for this club one day. Now the time has come.<\/p>\n<p><b>Even so, is there a touch of sadness about leaving Essen?<br>\n<\/b>Yes, of course. I grew up and developed as a footballer in Essen. I owe a great deal to Essen. It\u2019s a very close-knit environment that welcomed me with open arms and supported me over many years. So, it\u2019s by no means an easy step to make the move now. Nevertheless, I\u2019m happy to be playing for BVB now and to experience something new.<\/p>\n<p><b>Even though the manager, Markus Högner, is an old acquaintance?<br>\n<\/b>Without Markus, I wouldn\u2019t be where I am today. He brought me up from the U17s and I\u2019m incredibly grateful to him for everything he\u2019s made possible for me. After a year apart, I\u2019m glad to have him back as my manager because we simply know what we can expect from each other. Of course, we\u2019ve both developed over the past year, so I\u2019m also curious to see what it\u2019ll be like to train with him again.<\/p>\n<p><b>How would you describe yourself as a player?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019m a hard worker. I throw myself into every tackle and love it every time I win one, sliding in and giving it my all. In attack, I enjoy coaching the players. That means I can control the team from the back and help my teammates that way.<\/p>\n<p><b>You were at home in the Bundesliga. Now it\u2019s the Regionalliga next season. Why are you still convinced that this is the right move for you personally?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019ve noticed how committed BVB are to developing the women\u2019s team. Everything and everyone behind it, everything that\u2019s achieved off the pitch \u2013 it\u2019s top-level professionalism. I want to be part of it, take the next step with BVB and help the club move forward.<\/p>\n<p><b>You were born in Schwerte, started playing football at SV Sölderholz, did your PhD at TU Dortmund and are active in the volunteer fire brigade. What does Dortmund mean to you as a city?<br>\n<\/b>Dortmund is my home. I grew up in Lichtendorf and still live in Lichtendorf. You could almost say I belong to Dortmund just as much as BVB (laughs).<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"/content/dam/bvbweb/en/news/2026/06/09/interview-ostermeier/Ostermeier-Interview-3.jpg\" data-assetref=\"Ostermeier-Interview-3-1780919880350\"><\/p>\n<p><b>And how much is BVB a part of you?<br>\n<\/b>I grew up with BVB. As a small child, I first played football myself in Sölderholz. Afterwards, I\u2019d always watch the BVB matches, get caught up in the excitement, and sometimes head straight back out into the garden afterwards because I wanted to do better if BVB had lost (laughs). So, BVB played a big part in my life from an early age, and it\u2019s lovely that I can now do something for BVB.<\/p>\n<p><b>You didn\u2019t have that chance back then, as there was no women\u2019s football at BVB. How have you experienced the developments over the past few years?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019ve been following it ever since it was discussed at the general meeting. When it was decided that there would be a women\u2019s team, I was absolutely delighted. I also thought it was absolutely the right move to build women\u2019s football from the ground up rather than buying our way into a higher division. That\u2019s what makes BVB what it is. Of course, I would have been happy if it had happened a bit sooner, but I\u2019m still glad that the women\u2019s team is now where it is and that I\u2019m part of it from now on.<\/p>\n<p><b>What does it mean to you emotionally?<br>\n<\/b>It\u2019s simply a childhood dream. Back then, you didn\u2019t really think about it that much. At some point, it became clear that you couldn\u2019t actually play for BVB because there was no women\u2019s or girls\u2019 team. That\u2019s why I\u2019m all the more delighted that I\u2019ll finally be able to fulfil that dream from this summer.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are your goals \u2013 both personally and with BVB?<br>\n<\/b>I\u2019d obviously like to get as much playing time as possible. And to be perfectly honest, I want to win titles with BVB. Unfortunately, I didn\u2019t manage to win a single title at Essen. That\u2019s why I\u2019d be absolutely delighted if we could celebrate league titles and promotion here. But the most important thing, above all else, is to stay healthy.<\/p>\n<p><b>Instead of Hafenstraße, it\u2019ll be Strobelallee for you from now on. As a Dortmund native, how much are you looking forward to the Rote Erde stadium?<br>\n<\/b>At Essen, we certainly had one of the best stadiums in the top flight. But the Rote Erde stadium is much richer in tradition and has a completely different character. I was at the stadium for the derby against Schalke. That was very special and I even got goosebumps just sitting in the crowd.
