Anton and Bellingham impress, Duranville returns

On Friday evening, several Borussia players put in successful performances with their national teams: Waldemar Anton played the full 90 minutes in Germany's 2-0 away win in Luxembourg, while Jobe Bellingham captained England's U21s to an important 2-0 win over Ireland. Julien Duranville also made his return after coming on as a substitute for Belgium's U21 team.

Luxembourg 0-2 Germany
The German national team won their ninth World Cup qualifier 2-0 in Luxembourg. BVB defender Waldemar Anton played the full 90 minutes, while Felix Nmecha came on as a substitute in the 54th minute. Nico Schlotterbeck did not play, nor did Karim Adeyemi, who was serving a yellow card suspension. Julian Nagelsmann's team will continue their campaign on Monday (20:45 CET) in Leipzig against Slovakia, who are level on points with them – a draw will be enough to see Germany seal their World Cup qualification.

England U21 2-0 Ireland U21
Jobe Bellingham returned with the England U21s to where his football journey began – Birmingham. He captained the team to a 2-0 win over Ireland, playing the full 90 minutes. After four games, England remain unbeaten and are second in the European Championship qualifiers behind Slovakia, who have 13 points after five games.

Austria U21 1-0 Belgium U21
Julien Duranville came on in the 63rd minute of Belgium U21's fourth European Championship qualifier. However, the BVB attacking player was unable to prevent a 1-0 defeat in Ried im Innkreis.

Poland U21 2-1 Italy U21
In the top match of U21 European Championship qualifying group E, the Italian U21 team, including BVB defender Filippo Mane, faced Poland, who were level on points. Mane played for 90 minutes, but in the end Italy were defeated 2-1.

Norway 4–1 Estonia
Julian Ryerson played the full 90 minutes in Norway's home game. After a goalless first half, the hosts turned up the heat in the second half and scored four goals in 17 minutes to make it 4-0. Ryerson played a big part in this, shining with two assists: first, the Borussia player crossed for Alexander Sörloth to make it 2-0 (52), before finding Erling Haaland with another cross just four minutes later to bring the score to 3-0 (56). Thanks to this victory, Norway are now virtually certain to qualify for the World Cup. Only Italy can still catch the leaders, but they would have to win both of their remaining games and make up a huge gap in goal difference.

More Borussia players will be in action on Friday when Germany, the England U21s, the USA U21s, the Belgium U21s and Italy U21s are in action. These players are currently away with their national teams.
