BVB secure the next three Champions League points: Out of nowhere, Guirassy headed BVB into the lead in stoppage time in the first half. The visitors from Spain had been the more composed team up to that point in front of 81,365 spectators at a sold-out SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Nine minutes after the restart and following a lengthy VAR review that resulted in a red card for Villarreal's Foyth, Guirassy scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0. Adeyemi quickly made it 3-0 after great work from Brandt, sealing the victory (58'). Fabio Silva missed a penalty in the 82nd minute. Instead, Daniel Svensson scored in stoppage time to make it 4-0.

Niko Kovac makes a total of five changes to the team that played against Stuttgart: Jobe Bellingham, Maxi Beier, Carney Chukwuemeka, Emre Can and Julian Ryerson start on the bench. Karim Adeyemi, Aaron Anselmino, Yan Couto, Marcel Sabitzer and Daniel Svensson come into the starting line-up.

It's matchday! At 21:00 CET, Borussia will welcome Villarreal to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. After yesterday's final training session, today's schedule includes a warm-up before the Black and Yellows make their way to the stadium together in the evening. The Black & Yellows will take to the pitch tomorrow in their international cup kit – yellow shirts, black shorts and yellow socks (to the online shop). Villarreal will play in white shirts with maroon shorts and socks.

In cool but dry November weather, the BVB players took to the pitch in Dortmund-Brackel on Monday morning. After a short pep talk from coach Niko Kovac, the outfield players began their warm-up programme, while the goalkeepers completed their first exercises between the posts. This was followed by an intensive passing drill, which also involved the Champions League balls for the upcoming match against Villarreal. The focus then shifted to technical fine tuning.

+++ 10:00 CET: Davide Massa to officiate +++
UEFA has appointed Italian Davide Massa to referee tomorrow’s match. The 44-year-old will be officiating his 26th Champions League match, his third involving Borussia Dortmund (previously in October 2022, for a 0-0 draw with Manchester City, and a 0-0 draw with Sporting Lisbon in February 2025, ). He also refereed the Europa League qualifying match away to Wolfsberger AC (Austria) in July 2016, which BVB won 1-0.

Borussia are preparing today for their home match against Villarreal, which kicks off at 21:00 CET on Tuesday evening at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. The final training session will take place in the morning at the training ground in Dortmund-Brackel.
