Post-Match Report

Match facts: Bensebaini does not only score in the Champions League…

Borussia Dortmund were by far the better team and took a deserved lead before Jobe Bellingham’s red card turned the game completely in the 53rd minute. After that, it was all Freiburg, and they had 12 shots without reply and deservedly scored an equaliser thanks to an incredible goal from Lucas Höler. Here are the match facts:

Draw: BVB have gone undefeated for seven Bundesliga matches, but have shared the points in three of those seven games. Overall, no team has more draws than BVB (five) this season.

Streak broken: After seven successive wins against Freiburg, BVB failed to take all three points against their opponents for the first time since August 2021.

Sending off: Jobe Bellingham saw a red card for his first foul in the match, preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Guaranteed success: BVB have not yet lost this Bundesliga season with Ramy Bensebaini in the starting line-up (six wins, two draws). The defender even scored a goal to keep that run going. It was only his second Bundesliga goal in his 59th appearance in a BVB shirt. His first came more than a year ago in October 2024, at home to St. Pauli. In between those two league goals, however, Bensebaini has scored four times in the Champions League!
