Africa Cup of Nations: Bensebaini in the last 16

Two matches, two wins: Ramy Bensebaini and the Algeria national team have secured early qualification for the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations. After a successful start to the tournament on Thursday (3-0 against Sudan), national coach Vladimir Petkovic's team also came out on top in their second group match.

Algeria beat Burkina Faso 1-0 (1-0) on Monday evening, securing their place in the knockout stages with a game to spare. With six points and a goal difference of 4-0, Les Fennecs have already secured top spot in Group E after two matchdays and are through to the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2019.

Ramy Bensebaini was in the starting line-up and played the entire match in central defence. The Algerians will now face the second-placed team in Group D at 17:00 CET on 6 January.
