One player returns for BVB in final session before Lille clash
The next English week is coming up for BVB. Two days after the 2-0 win away to FC St. Pauli on Saturday, the BVB first-team players came together to prepare for their next task: the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 clash with OSC Lille.
The green Champions League balls rolled across the training pitch in temperatures of seven degrees Celsius and sunshine. Julian Ryerson, who had been absent in Hamburg due to illness, was back in the squad. Carney Chukwuemeka was absent due to individual load management, as was long-term absentee Felix Nmecha.
As always, the final session before the Champions League game was open to the media for 15 minutes. Coach Niko Kovac then worked behind closed doors with his team to fine-tune them for the clash with the French side.
Kovac and attacking player Karim Adeyemi, who impressed with a goal and an assist against St. Pauli on Saturday, will continue with the press conference in the afternoon. Both will be on the podium at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK at 14:00 CET (live on BVB-TV) to answer questions from the journalists in attendance. (cr)
