BVB women snatch three points in Oesbern

The Borussia Dortmund women's team picked up their next three points away to SV Oesbern. The final score against the Sauerland outfit was 3-1 (1-0). All three goals were scored by Dana Marquardt.

Watched on by an impressive away crowd, the Borussia ladies applied pressure on their hosts from Oesbern from the beginning. The first good chance for BVB fell to Mia Böger, who dribbled into the penalty area from the right flank and shot from the corner of the six-yard box. The ball was parried away to the side by Alina Klüppel in goal for the home team, and Dana Marquardt narrowly missed on the follow-up at the back post. Klüppel was again on hand in the 40th minute and intervened to stop a free-kick fired goalbound by Paula Reimann from a deep central position. Only two minutes later,. however, the ball found its way into the back of the net: Nora Willeke's cross from the right side sailed over the goalkeeper and was headed home at the back post by Dana Marquardt, who made it 1-0. That remained the score until the half-time interval.

After the break, the Dortmund ladies initially could not make further compelling advances into the Oesbern half. The home team, on the other hand, succeeded on that front. SV Oesbern won the ball back during the Black & Yellows' build-up play and launched a counter that ended with Atanasia Skoupra restoring parity at 1-1. The Borussia ladies then turned the heat back up but were initially denied by the woodwork – and the outstanding Klüppel between the sticks – on several occasions. It was not until the 72nd minute that BVB scored the all-important goal through Marquardt to make it 2-1. Böger's high cross from the right sailed towards the back post and Marquardt was able to force the ball over the line amidst a penalty box scramble. In the 84th minute, Marquardt sealed the deal by slotting home her third goal. A lovely passing move down the left flank ended up with Ann-Sophie Vogel, who squared the ball into the path of Marquardt in the box. Shortly before the final whistle, Marquardt even made it 4-1 via a header after being set up by substitute Marah Tayeh. However, the goal was chalked off due to a supposedly offside position. The game thus ended in a 3-1 victory for the Black & Yellows, who remain one point clear at the top of the Westfalenliga table.

Next weekend will see the Borussia Dortmund women's team play host to SVKT 07 Minden. As an exception, the game will not take place at Stadion Rote Erde but at the training ground in Hohenbuschei. Kick-off in the Westfalenliga game is at 16:00 CEST.
