First session in Fort Lauderdale

Late Friday afternoon, the BVB squad touched down in Fort Lauderdale – the Club World Cup adventure in the USA is officially underway. After checking into the team hotel and with a nine-hour flight in their legs, it was straight onto the training pitch for the first time.

The evening session took place at Inter Miami’s training ground, where the Black & Yellows will now prepare daily for the challenges ahead. With a light breeze and the heat of the day fading, the team made the most of the state-of-the-art facilities on site. Julian Brandt & Co. kicked things off with some light work on the bikes and strength equipment before heading out onto the perfectly trimmed grass as dusk settled in.

The focus was on mobility and shaking off the hours of travel – head coach Niko Kovac will introduce the ball from Saturday onwards as the team shifts gears to prepare for the opening clash with Fluminense (12:00 local time/18:00 CEST) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Also back with the team: goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who remained in the U.S. after international duty with Switzerland and joined the group for the evening run.
