Sabitzer, Campbell and Albert visit the BVB Embassy

Borussia Dortmund's first team celebrated their first victory in the FIFA Club World Cup with a 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the second round of fixtures. After the final whistle, BVB players Marcel Sabitzer, Cole Campbell and Mathis Albert made their way to the BVB Embassy in Cincinnati, located right next to the stadium, where they mingled with fans.

Around an hour after the final whistle, 600 BVB fans were already back at “The Pitch” to celebrate the Black & Yellows’ win over Mamelodi Sundowns. At the opening the previous evening in front of around 1,000 supporters, sporting director Lars Ricken promised: “I am very confident that our players will also drop by here in the next few days.” This promise was kept less than 24 hours later. The fans were treated to plenty of autographs and selfies, and the pros also drew the winners of a BVB raffle.

The embassy in Cincinnati was opened on Friday evening by Borussia’s management and serves as a contact point for all BVB fans in the city. The embassy in “The Pitch” will remain open until 25 June (except Mondays), wBVB will then play their final group match against Ulsan HD from South Korea (Wednesday, 15:00 local time / 18:00 CEST) in Cincinnati again.
