BVB legends start the SOCCER7sSeries with two wins

The BVB legends have made a successful start to the SOCCER7sSeries in Singapore. On Saturday (25 July), Borussia won both of their group matches against East London All Stars (1-0) and Forest Reds (2-0) to take the lead in Group B.

In the first match against East London All Stars, Dede led the BVB legends onto the pitch at Jalan Besar Stadium as captain. After a goalless first half, Borussia took the lead with a beautiful goal from Antonio da Silva: substitute Patrick Owomoyela played da Silva into the English side's penalty area with a precise long pass. After a one-two with Young-Pyo Lee, the Borussia player slotted home to make it 1-0, which remained the final score after the two halves of seven minutes each.

In the second game, against the Forest Reds, it was Joo-Ho Park put the Black & Yellows ahead. Kevin Grosskreutz, who had taken over the captain's armband from Dede, teed up Park in the penalty area, with the Korean confidently slotting the ball past the keeper. Mladen Petric then made it 2-0 30 seconds before the final whistle.

On Saturday, Dortmund will face Singa Legends (9:56 CEST) and Singapore FC Masters (14:08 CEST) on the second day of the group stage of the SOCCER7sSeries. The first and second-placed teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals on Sunday. The tournament will be broadcast live on DAZN.
