BVB legends reach semi-final of “SOCCER7sSeries”

The BVB legends remained unbeaten after the second day of the “SOCCER7sSeries” in Singapore. After their early wins against the East London All Stars (1-0) and Forest Reds (2-0), the Borussians were also victorious in their final two group stage games on Saturday against Singa Legends and Singapore FC Masters, and will be playing in the semi-final of the tournament on Sunday.

In the first game of the day, the Black&Yellow legends beat Singa Legends 2-0. Kevin Großkreutz scored in the first half following a brilliant double pass with Jan Koller, putting the ball in the bottom left corner to make it 1-0. In the second half, Antonio da Silva missed a chance from a few metres away to increase their lead to 2-0. But a second goal still came - 17 seconds before the final whistle, Mladen Petric scored following a back-pass by Young-Pyo Lee, making the final score 2-0 after two seven-minute halves.

After coming away with three wins in three games, BVB had already secured their place at the top of Group B before their fourth group stage game, meaning they would progress to the semi-final. But the Borussians didn’t rest on their laurels in their final group stage game against Singapore FC Masters, winning the match 1-0. Großkreutz scored from a direct free kick as the whistle for half time blew - this was the only goal of the game.

On Sunday, BVB will be playing COSMO Masters for a place in the final. The game against the team that finished second in Group A will be taking place at 6:35 CEST. The “SOCCER7sSeries” is being streamed live on DAZN.

Shortly afterwards, Can earned the chance to open the scoring as a result of some high pressing, which caused Freiburg to lose the ball in their half, but his shot from 17 metres was not accurate or powerful enough on 24 minutes. After exactly half an hour, the Black & Yellows were rewarded for their courageous performance: Couto struck a free kick from the right side into the box, Bensebaini chested the ball down and prodded it over the line to make it 1-0 in the 31st minute. After a risky pass from Kobel, the Englishman tried to put his body in the way 19 metres out in front of his own goal, but caught Treu, who was bursting forward at pace, and was given his marching orders by referee Zwayer for preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity. It was Bellingham\u2019s first foul in the game. Günter fired the resulting free kick just past the left-hand post.<\/p>\nBVB responded to going a man down by bringing on Pascal Groß for Fabio Silva, and had hardly any extended periods of possession thereafter. The match took place almost entirely in the Dortmund half. Kobel brilliantly tipped a follow-up shot from Treu around the post in the 69th minute, and also showed strong reactions to save Suzuki\u2019s shot, which had taken a wicked deflection off Bensebaini, in the 74th minute. But 60 seconds later, Freiburg were celebrating the equaliser Höler did well to get on the end of Günter\u2019s cross and finished brilliantly, finding the far post.
