Fans get up close to BVB pros at public training

The BVB first team returned to Dortmund by team bus during the night after their 3-3 draw against FC St. Pauli in their Bundesliga opener. Just a few hours later, they were back on the training ground in Dortmund-Brackel. With the summer holidays coming to an end, many families were excited to see the pros up close.

The training ground quickly reached its capacity of 500 visitors. Training sessions usually take place at the youth stadium, but the U19 team was hosting VfL Bochum at the same time. The first fans to arrive at the training ground saw the assistant coaches preparing the pitch early on: balls, cones and training aids were laid out on the turf for the first exercises.

These were used as part of the training for players who did not play at all or only played briefly on Saturday evening. After warming up, this training group completed exercises with the ball. The much larger group consisted of the players who had spent at least 45 minutes on the pitch and were completing their running laps on Sunday morning.

They were the first to go to the fans and take time for the supporters. Gregor Kobel, Pascal Gross and their colleagues patiently signed autographs, posed for photos and exchanged friendly words – creating unforgettable memories, especially for the children.
