The clock doesn't stop at 90 minutes

In football, the clock keeps running even when play is stopped – for example, due to injuries, substitutions, time-wasting or VAR decisions. To ensure fairness, this lost time is added on at the end of each half. Added time is therefore not a random occurrence, but an integral part of the game.

However, when the 45 or 90 minute mark was exceeded, the clock on the scoreboard in the stadium would stop – in contrast to the TV broadcast, where the added time is displayed seamlessly and precisely to the second. This changed in the new year. Now the clock will be kept running in the stadium as well.

A misunderstanding led to the stadium clock not stopping after 90 minutes during the home match against Wolfsburg (photo). Starting with the home match against Bremen, this will become the rule.
