Ramy Bensebaini reaches the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations

In the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria beat the Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 after extra time to secure their place in the quarter-finals. Borussia player Ramy Bensebaini played the entire match.

Algeria faced DR Congo in the penultimate round of 16 match of the Africa Cup of Nations, which is currently being held in Morocco. Borussia Dortmund defender Ramy Bensebaini started the match in central defence. The Borussia player had a chance to score in the 17th minute, but was unable to capitalise on the opportunity. With his teammates also unsuccessful, the match went into extra time after 90 goalless minutes. Bensebaini had his next chance in the 115th minute. Four minutes later, shortly before the final whistle, Algeria scored the winning goal to secure a 1-0 victory.

Algeria will face Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Kick-off is at 17:00 CET on Saturday.
