The Black & Yellow schedule for July

In July, Borussia Dortmund's professional squad will begin preparations for the 2024/2025 season. In addition to the DEW21 dream game and the friendly at Erzgebirge Aue, the team will also embark on a tour of Asia, touching down in Thailand and Japan this year.

Wednesday, 10 July: Start of training in Dortmund
Head coach Nuri Sahin will call on his team to start training on 10 July, which as usual will include performance diagnostics and the traditional lactate test at the training ground in Dortmund-Brackel. The Black & Yellow internationals, who are in action with their teams at the European Championships, will start their preparations at a later date.

Friday, 12 July (18:00 CEST): DEW21 dream game
Just two days after the start of training, the Black & Yellows will play their first friendly of preseason. At the Montanhydraulik Stadium in Holzwickede, Borussia Dortmund will face the DEW21 team, which has been put together from amateur players from the region. More than 5,000 spectators will be able to watch the match live at the stadium, which will also be broadcast on television and streamed online. Click here for tickets!

Wednesday, 17 July (18:00 CEST): Erzgebirge Aue - BVB
Erzgebirge Aue fought their way to a strong sixth place in the past third division season. BVB's U23s suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg last season and drew the second leg (2-2) - Borussia Dortmund's professionals will visit the club from Saxony at the Erzgebirge Stadium on 17 July. Tickets are still available for the match.

Friday, 19 July: Start of the Asia tour
BVB will once again visit Asia: On 19 July, the Borussia squad will travel to Thailand and Japan, where Nuri Sahin's team will play two friendly matches. On 25 July, the Black & Yellows will return to Dortmund.

Sunday, 21 July (15:00 CEST): BG Pathum United vs. BVB
BVB's tour of Asia first takes them to Thailand, where their first stop will be in the capital Bangkok. There, BVB will face reigning League Cup winners BG Pathum United in a test match. Kick-off is at 8pm local time (15:00 CEST) at BG Stadium and the match will be broadcast live on BVB TV.

Wednesday, 24 July (12:15 CEST): Cerezo Osaka vs. BVB
A reunion with a Dortmund favourite: As part of the "EuroJapan Cup", BVB will face Cerezo Osaka, the current club of former Black & Yellow Shinji Kagawa, who celebrated two league titles and a DFB-Pokal win during his time at BVB. Kick-off at Yanmar Stadium Nagai is at 19:15 local time (12:15 CEST) and the match will be broadcast live on BVB TV.

After just ten minutes, Couto and Manzambi saw yellow cards for a tussle on the touchline. There were also fiery scenes on the pitch: Guirassy headed a well-timed Fabio Silva cross just past the left post in the 9th minute, and shortly afterwards, Manzambi beat Can around the left hand corner of the six yard box, but he did not get enough behind his shot, meaning that Kobel could easily stop it on 9 minutes.<\/p>\nBorussia Dortmund had enjoyed 66 percent of the possession in the first 20 minutes \u2013 and also carved out the first big chance. After a one-two with Guirassy, Chukwuemeka took aim from an acute angle, but his shot hit the side netting in the 21st minute. Shortly afterwards, Can earned the chance to open the scoring as a result of some high pressing, which caused Freiburg to lose the ball in their half, but his shot from 17 metres was not accurate or powerful enough on 24 minutes. After exactly half an hour, the Black & Yellows were rewarded for their courageous performance: Couto struck a free kick from the right side into the box, Bensebaini chested the ball down and prodded it over the line to make it 1-0 in the 31st minute. After a risky pass from Kobel, the Englishman tried to put his body in the way 19 metres out in front of his own goal, but caught Treu, who was bursting forward at pace, and was given his marching orders by referee Zwayer for preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity. It was Bellingham\u2019s first foul in the game. Günter fired the resulting free kick just past the left-hand post.<\/p>\nBVB responded to going a man down by bringing on Pascal Groß for Fabio Silva, and had hardly any extended periods of possession thereafter. Kobel brilliantly tipped a follow-up shot from Treu around the post in the 69th minute, and also showed strong reactions to save Suzuki\u2019s shot, which had taken a wicked deflection off Bensebaini, in the 74th minute.
