BVB women to start Westfalenliga away from home

The Westfalenliga fixture list is confirmed: the Borussia Dortmund women's footballers will kick off the 2024/25 season against FC Iserlohn on 25 August. The first derby against FC Schalke 04 will take place away from home on 27 October.

The BVB women will play their first home game in the Westfalenliga against Herforder SV Borussia Friedenstal on 1 September. The season will end away to SV Thülen on 18 May 2025.

"We were excitedly awaiting the fixture list and, in Iserlohn, whom we rate very highly, we've been handed a real tough opponent straightaway on the first matchday. We would of course have liked to start off the new season with a home game. Generally, we're looking forward to the new league and the new opponents," said coach Thomas Sulewski. "We will prepare ourselves well in order to then be able to produce good performance week-in, week-out from 25/8. We're particularly looking forward to the first women's derby in Borussia Dortmund's club history."

We out there must also stand together and fight against adversity. Every single player saw today what is most important in life: health.\u201d<\/p>\nEmre Can was particularly happy about a reunion. The captain had already visited little Mustafa in the hospital a few weeks ago. The welcome on ward K41, the paediatric oncology ward, was correspondingly warm when he arrived with the whole team this time. \u201cMustafa is extremely cool and extremely strong. He is a little fighter. We had a great time together last time, and again today. The children get a real boost when we come here. It\u2019s nice when we can put a smile on the children\u2019s faces,\u201d said Can, adding: \u201cI also take a lot away with me. Sure, football is important, but this here is real life. I have enormous respect for every child who is here. They are so brave and so strong, we can all learn a lot from them.
