Kagawa's emotional visit to the team hotel
Shinji Kagawa had two spells at Borussia, from 2010 to 2012, and then from 2014 to 2019. The 35-year-old now plays his football for Cerezo, the club he left when he first moved to Dortmund from Japan 14 years ago. The reunion with Kagawa away from the pitch took place on Tuesday.
At lunchtime, the fan favourite from the 2010s visited the team hotel and met many of his old teammates and the current squad. Shortly before the BVB squad started their activation programme, Kagawa received a hug from former teammate Nuri Sahin, who praised the Japanese player's attitude.
"Shinji is the best example that if you do a good job, you will never be forgotten by this club - no matter where in the world you come from," emphasised Sahin in front of the assembled crowd. You can watch the Borussia coach's full speech here.
