Sancho: "We have an advantage in front of our fans"

1,032 days after scoring his last BVB goal, Jadon Sancho was back on target for the Black & Yellows in Bremen on Saturday. In an interview after the match, he talked about his goal, the trust that has been shown in him and the upcoming Champions League second leg against PSV Eindhoven.

Jadon, your first goal of the season for BVB since your return. How did it feel?
"It felt really good. It took a while, but I stayed patient. I had a feeling this week that I was going to score. I stayed positive, even if my performance didn't always show it and I've disappointed some people a bit in recent weeks. I'm not entirely satisfied with the game in Bremen either; I could've played better and contributed more. But we got the three points; that's the most important thing."

A great piece of individual play from you made it 2-0 to us, take us back through the situation.
"I knew that it would be a one-on-one situation and I did a feint. Then I played the ball past my opponent with my left foot and used my pace to go past him. I already knew then that I would shoot into the near corner."

You didn't score in your first matches. Did you feel any kind of pressure from game to game?
"Yes, you always have pressure. In my first spell at BVB, I registered a goal involvement in almost every match. So I can understand that the fans expect a lot of me. I do from myself too. I could also accept it if some people were angry with me. I want to continue to improve for the team."

To what extent do you feel Edin Terzic's trust?
"It's not only Edin whose trust I feel. Everyone at BVB knows what I can do on the pitch. They all trust me. I'm very grateful that they give me the opportunity to show what I can do every week. I hope it continues that way."

Up next is the Champions League and the second leg against Eindhoven on Wednesday. What do you have to do as a team to reach the next round?
"We simply have to win, that's for sure. We have to play as a team and convert the chances we get. We know it's going to be a difficult game, but I think we have an advantage because we're playing at home in front of our fans. It's a new game, a new challenge. We'll be ready."
