FIFA Club World Cup to start in 50 days – BVB to face Fluminense in opener

There are only 50 days to go until the start of the FIFA Club World Cup: the opening match takes place on 14 June 2025, with BVB entering the action against Fluminense three days later. The final is scheduled for 13 July. According to BVB managing director Carsten Cramer, winning the trophy "is a goal worth working towards".

"I think it's cool that we're involved. It's a great new format. It's much better to be actively involved in such tournaments than to sit on the sofa and keep your fingers crossed for other German clubs. We believe this to be a great opportunity for us as Borussia Dortmund," commented Cramer.

Borussia Dortmund will kick off their tournament with a game against Brazilians Fluminense. They will then face Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), before going up against South Korean representative Ulsan HD in the final group game (to the tickets).

"I can see that our players are getting to grips with the format of this tournament. Naturally, our full focus is on the Bundesliga," said Cramer, adding: "But being at a tournament like this and possibly making history at the first edition in the USA is something that appeals to many. With that in mind, I really mean it when I say that we're all looking forward to it at BVB."

All matches at the tournament will be broadcast free of charge live on DAZN.
