Kobel meets NHL superstars Draisaitl and McDavid

Ice hockey players Leon Draisaitl (Germany), the top scorer in the NHL's main round with 52 goals, and Connor McDavid (Canada), who is regarded as the best ice hockey player of the present era, met BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel at the team hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Kobel's father was a professional ice hockey player himself.

Draisaitl and McDavid play for the Edmonton Oilers, who are preparing for their game in the Stanley Cup Finals at the same hotel as BVB. The Canadian NHL team will play the sixth match in their best-of-seven series against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday evening (20:00 local time). Eight hours prior, BVB will take on Fluminense in their first FIFA Club World Cup game at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Cologne-born Draisaitl was crowned the NHL's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2019/2020 season and has been playing for the Edmonton Oilers in the world's best ice hockey league since 2014. His congenial team-mate Connor McDavid is the absolute superstar of ice hockey. The 28-year-old is a multiple top-scorer, best goal-scorer and MVP. He became a world champion with Canada in 2016. Both are still waiting for their first Stanley Cup win, however.
