BVB women to face Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB-Pokal

In the play-off round of the 2025/26 DFB-Pokal, Borussia Dortmund’s women’s team will face second-tier side Borussia Mönchengladbach at home. The match will be played between 16 and 18 August.

Renate Lingor, two-time World and European champion and seven-time DFB-Pokal winner, drew the 16 pairings for the play-off round at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt am Main, giving the Black & Yellows a match against Gladbach in their inaugural appearance in the DFB-Pokal.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach women's team were promoted back to the Bundesliga 2 in the 2023/24 season and reached the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal last season, where they were defeated by Hamburger SV. In the 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons, the Gladbach women played in the Bundesliga.

In the 2025/2026 season, 32 teams will compete in the play-offs of the women's DFB-Pokal. The participants will consist of the 21 Landespokal winners, the five teams promoted to the Bundesliga 2 and the six best teams who finished behind the top four in the second tier. The winners of these play-off matches will face the 12 Bundesliga teams from the previous season and the four highest-ranked teams from the Bundesliga 2 in the first main round. The play-offs have been drawn in regional groups (north and south). Teams below the Bundesliga 2 will always have home advantage.
